The Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, presented in Almonte the project 'Destination Rocío'. An initiative promoted by the artist José Manuel Soto, who "has achieved, according to Sanz, that we all join "some ways that vertebrate Andalusia".
These are eight routes among which are the Andalusia Nazarí, the Olive Grove, the Sierra Morena, the Valley of Pedroches, the Aguardiente, the Silver, the Ham and Fandango and Gibraltar. Sanz said that "these are routes where we find the phenomenon of popular religiosity, customs and traditions of our land". And he explained that "we want to bring to enrich these routes far beyond the context and the annual phenomenon of the pilgrimage".
Sanz has stressed that this project has "tourist vocation", which has been celebrated, as he has argued that "tourism is one of the engines of our land. It brings us prosperity and broadmindedness, and taking this exciting project to our towns and countryside will undoubtedly be an economic, social and cultural revulsive".
In addition, the counselor has highlighted another important aspect: outdoor activities. "These routes have to serve us to rediscover Andalusia, enjoying our natural environment and valuing the privilege of being Andalusian". Sanz has assured that "Andalusia will have a new model of life in nature, whose goal will become a destination for thousands of people".
Thus, Sanz has described 'Destino Rocío' as "innovative, transversal, integrative, sustainable, attractive and technological". A statement that has exemplified by alluding to the fact that the project "contributes to the temporary deseasonalization of Andalusian tourism" and "has almost no environmental impact. In addition, Sanz has highlighted the creation of a web page: "It will be a starting point for consultation and organization of the trip, to share information. A 'virtual encyclopedia' that will be filled with experiences and memories".
Finally, Sanz has exemplified the commitment made by the Andalusian Government for this project and for the rural environment. "Since 2019 we have dedicated more than 5 million euros to modernize and improve the cattle trails of Andalusia. And that is more than triple what was invested before Juanma Moreno came to the presidency.
